Of course, I am talking about watch straps and bracelets. What were YOU thinking? 😂
I am sure someone has created a humorous timeline showing the evolution from watch enthusiast newb to watch snob. My status as watch newb is actually quite enjoyable for the time being. I hope I never become a watch snob, but I do have some proclivity to becoming a little over status-conscience.
Despite liking and buying watches all of my adult life where normally I might buy a watch and that one watch I would wear for years. Nowadays as I have been infected by the horology curse, I am seeing my personal transcendence from retail watch buyer, to unknowingly looking at everyone’s wrists to binge viewing watch reviews on YouTube. And, the biggest crack den for horologist is WatchCrunch. This “stage two” of the disease takes you from generally understanding movements and complications to, lo and behold, switching out bracelets and straps!
I think only once or twice in my adult life have I swapped out my included shoelaces on my $700 dress shoes. Blasphemy!
But, no, says Joe…this how you deepen your relationship with your watches. 🤣👌🤠 This recent binge buy during Ali summer sale, I made sure to order a variety of new leather, canvas and rubber straps to customize the look of any of my watches. From YouTube and the Crunchers, it is amazing how much you can change the personality of a watch by swapping out the bracelet or strap. OH NO! There goes another bucket of $$$$ 🤣
Today I went out to shoot some of my recent watch acquisitions with their standard non-bracelet straps and depending on my mood or business appts for the day, every watch is different as every strap can be different!
A barrel of monkeys thinks they have the most fun, but they don’t have watches!
